Evelyn Lucetta Wynkoop, 93, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY. Evelyn was born September 19, 1916, to Jennie and Earl Teator, whose family owned and operated violet houses in Red Hook, NY. She attended school in Clinton Corners and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. She was a resident of the Town of Clinton for over 90 years. In 1939, she married William Freer, who predeceased her. On October 26, 1946, she married Carl E. Wynkoop, who predeceased her in 2005. Together they owned and operated Fin and Feather Pet Shop in Poughkeepsie, NY, for over 25 years. They were inseparable and had a wonderful, long life together, and she has gone to join him forever. Evelyn's favorite hobby was knitting and crocheting for her family. She also created several hundred lap robes which she donated to all the local nursing homes every Christmas. Evelyn's friendliness and hospitality was unmatched. She always made you feel as if she had waited all day just for you to walk in the door and that you were the most important person in the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Smith, and son-in-law, William, of Clinton Hollow, NY; three grandchildren: Kelly Smith-Wajda and husband Michael, Scott Smith and wife Darlene, Leigh Wager and husband Rodney; and eight great grandchildren: Yury, Krista and Michael Wajda, Patrick and Michael Smith, and William, Kayla and Todd Wager.
