George Walberer, 70, of Red Hook, NY, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home following a long illness.
He retired from his position as a Resource Planner at IBM after 28 years with the company: working originally in E. Fishkill, then Poughkeepsie, and finally in Kingston.
George, an avid bowler, was a member of the Red Hook Boat Club, the Red Hook-Rhinebeck Elks Lodge #2022, the Milan Fire Department, and the IBM Quarter Century Club.
Born August 2, 1939, in New York City, he was the son of the late George Walberer, Sr., and Mary (Sebald) Walberer. He was a veteran of the US Air Force
Survived by his companion: Lynn Van Ness of Red Hook, a daughter Sondra Walters of Elizaville, NY, a son Timothy Walberer of Poughkeepsie, NY, extended family Hilde D'Addario of Chelsea, MA and Randy Clum, Jr. of Red Hook, NY, 5 grandchildren: Noelle, Brittany, and Kyle Johnson, Jasmine and Zachary Walberer, 4 great grandchildren: Tai and Natasha Chambers, and Kadence and Karter Johnson.
A son, Brian Scott Walberer (1988), and a brother Eric Walberer (2010), both predeceased him.
Private funeral services and visitation will be held at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. The Rev. Le Roy T. Ness will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
