Robert G. Hagan, 71, of Red Hook, NY, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, NY.
Born October 7, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Gilbert F. Hagan and Hazel P. (Brady) Hagan. He attended Pace University in New York City studying business administration, and he was a veteran of the US Army.
Following Robert's retirement in 2005 from his position as Vice President of Manufacturing for Schiffenaus Packaging in Suffern, NY and Newark NJ, he was a Tax Consultant at H&R Block in Kingston, NY. Previously he was employed by Southern Container Corp. in Deer Park, NY for more than 20 years.
An avid horseman, he won the Long Island Equestrian Championship in 1979, and was a member of the Long Island Hounds Hunt Club. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Red Hook Golf Club, and was on the Board of Directors of the Fairways Homeowners Association in Red Hook. He was also a pilot, marathon runner, and enjoyed hiking and other outdoor activities.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife Ilka M. Loefflath-Hagan, married on Jan. 17, 2002 in Warwick, NY.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 2 loving daughters and their husbands: Erin & Kevin Wade of Red Hook, and Jennifer Glynn & Anthony Strom of Pembroke Pines, FL; 5 grandchildren: Kevin, Patrick, and Kellie Glynn of Pembroke Pines, FL, Mackenzie and Brady Wade of Red Hook; a step-son & his wife: Kira & Beth Ehly of Nantucket, MA; 2 sisters: Patricia Tischler of Boca Raton, FL, and Jan Hagan of Queens, NY; a brother & his wife: William & Laura Hagan of Atlantic Beach, NY, and 7 nieces & nephews.
A Time of Remembrance will be held to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 30th, at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 91 E. Market St, Rhinebeck, NY.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 12 - 3 PM.
